Our Mission:

Extras for Creative Learning has been offering recycled materials and workshops to teachers, parents, and students since 1980. Our mission is to stimulate creative learning and help children awaken their creative potential in education and play through the use of reusable, recycled, and surplus material.

What we are:

E.x.C.L. is a clearinghouse that recovers tons of material from being burned or buried by business or industry and redistributes it for creative educational use. Extras for Creative Learning provides an opportunity for corporations and businesses to contribute to their community while saving on inventory and waste costs. It offers to the learning and creative communities access to resources and materials they may otherwise not be able to afford. The result of this exchange is a tax benefit for companies and a priceless resource for members. Teachers, child care providers, service programs, artists, and families are able to obtain supplies for an affordable annual membership fee. Annual membership allows participants to receive free products including:

• Foam • Yarn • Plastic • Fabric • Mylar

• Tile • Leather • Carpet • Paint • Wood

• Tubes • Ribbon • Paper • Office Supplies • Art Supplies

ExCL is a resource for...
• Teachers, group leaders, parents, and artists who want low-cost or no-cost recycled materials that offer unlimited creative opportunities to nurture learning, exploration, and discovery in classrooms, child care centers, youth groups, and more.

And a benefit to...

• Business owners and manufacturers who have excess inventory, outdated stock, overruns, or seconds crowding the warehouse or overflowing the waste stream. E.x.C.L. can help any business that wants tax-deductible recycling services that enable them to reduce waste costs while helping educators and service professionals.

The E.x.C.L. Recycling Center is located on the ground floor of Boston Latin Academy at 443 Warren Street, Dorchester Massachusetts. Distribution hours are Tuesday and Wednesday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and at other times by appointment.
