What is ExCL?

ExCL is a clearinghouse that recovers tons of material from being burned or thrown away and redistributes it for creative educational use. You won’t believe all the amazing supplies and products we have available every time you visit. This isn’t junk, it’s terrific materials of all sorts.

We offer

Low cost and no cost materials for education, the arts, and creative people.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to stimulate creative learning and help children awaken their creative potential in education and play through the use of reusable, recycled, and surplus material.

Donations
We take just about any material that can be used in an educational or artistic setting. A list will be coming soon, but in the meantime email us about materials that you would like to see used by teachers, children and artists.

If you wish to make a financial contribution, please use our online donation form, or call either, Lindsay Keyes, or Jodi Schmidt at 781-599-9939. Your donation will help children and the environmnet.

Staff

Lindsay Keyes, Executive Director

Lindsay Keyes is a recent graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Majoring in community arts education has allowed Lindsay to develop experience in a variety of educational settings. Lindsay has worked with multiple schools in the Boston area to enrich arts based after school programs. As a long time member and volunteer at ExCL, Lindsay understands the importance of quality materials for educators and helping the environment.

Jodi Schmidt,Director

Jodi worked for 8 years as art teacher in the Worcester Public Schools, and then the Melrose Public Schools. Her love of art and the environment finally lead her to become the Executive Director of Extras for Creative Learning, in 2005. She stepped back to plain old director in 2010, becuase, two kids are a lot of work, and LIndsay is a fabulous Executive Director. Jodi knows first-hand about the needs for low and no cost supplies for the classroom and she loves to share creative ideas for using recycled materials.
